If the power cells are operational and it will not start; then either the motor is dysfunctional or something is jammed in the intake module. A conduction test with instrumentation can indicate if the motor is the problem, the power cells are not fully charged, or you have a short circuit. Check Fuses.

If you have a DC voltmeter and can see the contacts in the charger, you may be able to see it the charger has a output. But with the newer electronics for battery charging, the battery may need to be in the charger to get a reading. My guess is you do have a bad charger.

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulty charging your DC44. We're unable to specify an exact lifespan for the battery as this will depend on how each individual machine is used and maintained. But we would expect the battery to last for at least the 2-year guarantee period in normal use.

When you have your machine easily to hand, I would encourage you to get in touch with us directly so our experts can talk you through some diagnostic checks to help us confirm which part is at fault. If a replacement part is needed, we can also check that this is covered under your 2-year Dyson guarantee.

Hi there Donna, it's Jack at Dyson.

If your DC44 seems to be running as normal but has no suction, it's likely you have a blockage in the floor tool, wand or bin inlet. The filter may also need a wash.

To check for and remove any blockages, please follow the steps shown in our online Support guide:http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc44/dc44-animal/my-machine-is-not-working/machine-not-sucking-picking-up-as-well-as-usual-dc44/no-resolved-redirect-to-check-the-wand/check-wand

DC44 has one washable filter, engineered to last the lifetime of the machine in normal use. This should be washed at least once a month using cold water without detergent, as shown in the video below. Allow the filter to dry completely for at least 24 hours before replacing it.

I'm confident this will resolve the issue, but if you would like any further help from our experts after giving these steps a try, please give us a call on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

Hi Philip, it's Jack at Dyson.

If you've recently replaced the battery and ensured it's fully charged, and you're still noticing a flashing indicator light, there may be a fault with the main body assembly.

We'd like to take some further details to confirm if this is the case. If a replacement part is required, we can also check whether this is covered under your vacuum's 2-year warranty.

Hi Juliet,

I am sorry to hear you are having difficulty with your brush bar. We recommend taking an opportunity to remove your brush bar and ensure it is free from any debris that might obstruct it. It is also helpful to inspect your cleaner head for any damage. Next, we recommend removing your wand from the main body and attaching your cleaner head directly to the main body of your machine to determine if your brush bar spins.

If your brush bar spins when the cleaner head is attached to the main body your wand may need to be replaced. If it does not the issue may be with the cleaner head. We recommend calling our Helpline with your findings so we can provide assistance with next steps.

Hi Mike, it's Jack at Dyson.

Our cordless vacuums including DC44 Animal now include a fixed battery which is not designed to be removable in everyday use. As DC44 offers a runtime of up to 20 minutes of high, constant suction, we've found Dyson owners don't usually need an additional battery to complete cleaning tasks.

The battery is removable if it ever needs to be replaced, but we would advise against attempting to swap the batteries in normal use as the machine isn't designed to be used in this way.

For further advice I'd encourage you to contact our Support team directly - you can reach the Dyson Customer Helpline by calling 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), or 1-877-397-6622 (CA).

Hi Darren, it's Jack at Dyson.

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulty recharging your DC44 Animal. It should charge from flat within 5.5 hours when connected to the charger assembly, or placed in the docking station, as shown in the video above.

The charge light will turn off once the battery is fully charged. If it seems to be shutting off prematurely, we would need to take you through some quick diagnostic checks when you have the machine to hand. This will help us confirm what may be needed to resolve the issue.

Please give the Dyson customer Helpline a call on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), or 1-877-397-6622 (CA), to speak directly with our team of experts.

Hello, this is Ava with Think Crucial.

Most of the time the reason why vacuum is not picking up is due to loss of suction. You may need to check for blockages of your wand and hose. Remove the wand and hose from your cleaner when checking for blockages and any damages. Make sure to turn off and unplug your vacuum from the power before doing this.

Hello, this is Ava with Think Crucial.

There are a number of reasons why your brush roller has stopped moving. General maintenance to your vacuum is crucial and will help it work at peak performance.

First things first lets focus on the brush roller. Unplug the vacuum and turn it on its side. Look for any noticeable clumps of debris or hair strands that may be caught in the brush roller. Remove these obstructions, probably best to do so with a scissor if it's hair or long pieces of carpet fibers. After removing the debris try manually rotating the brush roller to uncover other hidden clogs. Another thing to take note of is the condition of the bristles on the roll itself. Are they loose or worn down? These are signs that your brush roller is in need of replacing.

While checking out your brush roll you might as well take a look at your vacuums belt. Your belt should be replaced about every three months. After regular usage, the belt will stretch out, lessening the tension on the brush roller. Lesser tension diminishes the brush roller's turn rate and speed. If the belt feels loose then it certainly is affecting your vacuums suction as well as your brush roll not moving at all.

Hello, this is Ava with Think Crucial.

To fix any you vacuum problem, a proper maintenance will do the trick. Most of the time cleaning the filters, checking for blockages and clearing the passageways, and cleaning the brush roll assembly will resolve this. And if after doing maintenance it is still the same, that replacing the parts will most of the time make your vacuum work like brand new.

Hello, this is Ava of Think Crucial.

There are a number of reasons why your Dyson cleaner is pulsating off and on. First, it can be due to a battery of the cleaner. Make sure that the power cable is properly plug to the power and seated properly from the unit while charging. If you find that the battery isn't charging at all, you may need to replace the battery. Second is to check the MAX button of your cleaner. If the button lights up and flashes when your Dyson keeps on pulsating, press and hold the power button and depress the MAX button to turn off the function. You may need to do it for a few times to get the hang of it. Third is to check for any blockages or clogs in the attachments. Look down through the tube and check to see if there are clogs on the sweeper end or if the roller is tangled up in fibers. Clean the roller brush are if it it's necessary. You may need to empty the dust bin of your unit as debris can build up in hard to reach places. Lastly, cleaning the filters may fix the pulsating of your cleaner. Remove the filter and rinse it with cold water and air dry it for 12 hours. Don't use detergent when washing your filters. If the pulsating doesn't go with the given quick fix, I suggest to contact Dyson for further assistance on this.
