You can just buy a new remote. Test it using the smartphone front camera trick. Or it is the television that has no signal, do a Power Reset. Pull the mains plug for 5 minutes. Press and hold the power button on the set for 1 minute. Plug back in. Also check the input leads on the back for whatever is supplying the signal, Cable, Satellite, OTA, then check the Source button on the remote.

You can enable customize Parental Controls via your TV's on screen menu. If you have previously set a password, you will need to re-enter your password to begin. If you have forgotten your password, try 0000 (four zeros) or 3448 (the default password may vary by TV model, so consult your User Manual for details). You can find detailed instructions for using the parental controls in your TV User Manual, available for download at InsigniaProducts.com. Just search for your TV model number and click on the Support/Download tab. I hope this helps.
I suspect that your Insignia TV has an ATSC (digital tuner). The VCRs only have NTSC (analog) tuners. If you have a digital to analog converter box, you can connect that to any of the VCRs and tune in the channels. You will have to tune in the channel at the converter box. Ensure that you disable the sleep mode, if the desired program you want to record will air later.
There is one DVD/VCR that I know had an ATSC tuner, the Panasonic DMR-EZ37VK. It's still listed for sale at Amazon and E-bay, among others. A few other manufacturers may have come out with models with digital tuners. However, I didn't spend much time looking into them. They all had MSRP >$300. I connected my VCR/DVD recorder to the composite out of a converter box for <$50.
I hope this helps.

(In the US, only a few low power stations were allowed to remain broadcasting analog signals at the initial switch-over date. Some of them have stopped broadcasting entirely.)
Set-up (Programming) procedure is too much to type in here, and is not practical and it will differ brand-to-brand remote controls. If you wish to get more; check the sites linked here. It has set-up code list & set-up procedure to many popular brand remote controls. One among it has general set-up codes to check with TVs and other devices are given, in the order of the 'device's brand name list' in alphabetical order. Pull up older posts. Search the sites by type in the brand name to your device in its search box at the top right part of the display window. It will help you to find the document easily.

• If your device does not respond to the remote after trying all codes listed or your brand is not listed in the code list, use the Auto Code Search method to program your remote.
• Sometimes the first code that "works" with your device may operate only a few functions of your device. There may be another code in the code list that performs more functions. Try other codes from the code list for more functionality.
This is a trial and error procedure; and quiet time consuming. You might have to check different codes said for your device.
Search the site by type in the "brand name" to your device; in the "Search box at the top right of the display window of the Homepage" to get gathered related posts.
Honestly that sounds exactly the issue I had. It's the control board. (T-con board) what that means is your power supply and led light controller board are all okay, the T-con board is essentially the brain of the TV and controls the UI, the picture being displayed and gets input from all the other boards. For me it was a 40 dollar fix at the time. Do you know where the board is located on your set? You need that part number on the board to order it. I can upload pics of my disassembly if you like.
The signal going to your TV is weak and is not getting a proper signal. You will have to check the cable box and any wires and device that are connected to the TV to make sure that everything is connected correctly.
