Printer install without disk
You can install the driver and corresponding application for your printer by looking at the support page on the website of your printer's manufacturer. Depending on your printer, you can either download the driver only or with the bundled application. Good luck to your installation! :D
We are trying to upgrade
It sounds like the New 2GB RAM module is either faulty or incompatible.
From your notes it appears the system functions fine with the original 2GB module and 1 GB module. Have you tried replacing the original 2 GB module with the New 2GB module and see if you have the same issue? Also will the system boot with just the new 2GB module?
Recommended ram for that system is: DDR2 PC2-6400, DDR2 PC2-5300, DDR2 (non-ECC)
Dell 1720 says plugged in not charging , works
Hello there.
Unfortunately, your battery is "dead". I used to have Dell notebook for several years, and on everyone, after 1 year, battery gone. If your battery is still under warranty go to official Dell service and let
they replace it. If not, you have to buy a new one, and it is at least 130$.
I hope I was helpfull.
Sincerely,
Steve TM

Steps for Windows 7To uninstall Internet Explorer 8, follow these steps:
- Close all programs.
- Click Start
, and then click Control Panel.
- Under Programs, click Uninstall a program.
- In the tasks pane, click Turn Windows features on or off.
- In the list of windows features, clear the check box next to Internet Explorer 8.
- You receive a warning message in a pop-up window. Click Yes.
Internet Explorer 8 will now be uninstalled. The system will restart after the installation.
if that fails then there is a manual way to do this using the CMD prompt...
- Carefully select and then copy the following command:
FORFILES /P %WINDIR%servicingPackages /M Microsoft-Windows-InternetExplorer-8*.mum /c "cmd /c echo Uninstalling package @fname && start /w pkgmgr /up:@fname /norestart"
- Click Start, and then type Cmd.exe in the Start Search box.
- In the list of programs, right-click Cmd.exe, and then click Run as administrator.
Note If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type the password, or click Continue.
- Right-click inside the Administrator: Command Prompt window, and then click Paste to paste the command that you copied in step 1.
- Press ENTER to uninstall Internet Explorer 8.
- When the uninstall program is finished, restart your computer.
You cannot uninstall Internet Explorer 8 if it is set as not removable. This occurs if you install Internet Explorer 8 before you install Service Pack 3 (SP3) for Windows XP. If this scenario applies to you, then you must uninstall SP3 before you can uninstall Internet Explorer 8. Spilt drink on inspiron 1720. after letting dry
Make sure you DO NOT plug in your lap top to the power out let. This could cause a shock.
You see the Dell media direct, means your CMOS is OK.
But if Windows is not loading means the spill could have damaged your hard drive. I would strongly suggest you take it to a shop where they repair laptops.
This way you may have to replace your hard drive, but save your note book.

Cd/dvd drive not detected.
Hi there!
There's a few things that you need to check first.
Make sure that the cd/dvd is detected in BIOS,
If it is then there's a workaround for that problem of yours,
Go to the device manager then go to the cd/dvd uninstall it, then go to the REGEDIT that will lead you the registry. Please follow the instructions properly,
registry is the part of the computer you don't wanna mess with,
Go to this part when your already in the registry.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
then on the right hand side you should see the
upper and lower filter.
Delete the upper and lower filter.
Then restart the computer.
After that the cd/dvd should already be detected.
If not then you will end up replacing the cd/dvd itself.
Have a good day!
Same to me
If you are referring to crystal eye webcam and you wanted to send your pictures overseas, try to find the software that came with the particular piece of hardware.
It's like a digital camera. Just click on the icon and take the picture. You can send smaller pictures through Windows Mail or Outlook Express as an attachment. Just make sure the file size is small. If it is a different problem, just reply to my post.
CD/DVD drive no longer reading

NO PC told (dell has 10000 models)
no OS told, windows what"?
no drive told.
my wild wild guess is the boot drive is locked.
and you are attempting and ******* act. to it.
like deleting key parts of a running OS (windows) (like deleted tires on rims of 85mph moving car, fails)
no real goal told, but the nebular "install HDD"
one can add a 2nd drive easy or any of 1000s of external HDD models or external or internal, SSD or even a thumb drive. (vast) (just 2 steps in fact)
but the boot drive , change out is far far far more complex. and you never not told that.
you want to mess with the C: drive?
now let me guess the real goal (sad I must)
the OS drive windows is failing ( common)
and some lil' bird told you it needs a new boot drive, and then fail to say so here.
okay I will bite.
1: buy a new SSD (hdd fail and are slow)
2: buy a new OS, from MS. or get free w10. (ask how)
3: then put in new SSD,
4: run the w10 installer media (it is free)
5: load w10 to the SSD fresh
6: answer the silly 30 questions it asks.
7: and click activate. (buy it)
..

How do i eject a cd from the laptop
push the physical cd drive try button marked EJECT
the PC must be running,
or use the paper clip hole trick. (if PC is dead or tray jammed)
google that. clip trick
the dell manuals covers this
