Firstly Lyn, to use your cell phone as a modem and get internet anywhere, even in antartica :P,
You're going to need 3 things;
your laptop (preferably running windows)
your cell phone (which you need to make sure connects to the internet on its own)
And a cellphone usb adaptor set, which you can buy from places like bestbuy (however they do tend to be expensive) If your phone is infrared or has bluetooth it would make the process easier, but most don't.

First, plug the phone into your computer using an USB data cable. Make sure the cable you pick up fits your phone. If you're not sure, do a quick search for the cable that fits your phone model on http://www.cellularfactory.com/data_cable.jsp.

Windows will know you just plugged in something new and wants to know what it is, so the Add New Hardware wizard appears, eager to get the question settled. If you're lucky, your phone came with a handy CD that contains your drivers. If you weren't so lucky, Google search the drivers for your particular phone model, install them, and then point the Wizard in the driver's direction on the hard drive (so if the drivers are on the desktop, you'll just click browse in the wizard and go to where they are on the desktop). Once Windows says, "Tada I can use your Nokia CDMA modem," you're practically there. You might even be in luck because sometimes windows or even linux will just magically know that it is supposed to be a modem (with the right cable of course.)
Next you'll need connection software provided by your carrier. Again this might be on that CD that you may or may not have or get with your cable package, or you can download it from your plan's web site (Google Nokia to find them) Once you have that software, your baby is hot and ready for some internet action! Of course, depending on your location, plan and service, your speed will vary, usually this method of getting internet is typically more expensive and slower than typical home DSL and wi-fi.

I hope this helped, stay spicy and happy lappying!
:)

Do you have any cloud backup set up with Google? if so you should be able to get your images and docs from google website on a computer. also if you have a microSD card you might want to try seeing what you can retrieve of of it.

As soon as you power on your PC, start pressing the F2 key. This should bring up the BIOS (Basic Input Output Systems) screen. Make sure your Hard Drive is listed in the Boot order. Usually a CD drive is listed first, then the Hard Drive as a second boot device. If you do not see the Hard Drive listed, then it probably is bad and needs replacing. If it is listed correctly in the boot order, your Operating System has crashed, and you will need the recovery disks or the instalation disk for your Operating System (XP, Win7,etc.)

try a new battery yet, all time #1 failure off all portable devices
is that....
when a PC sees the battery weak it dims the screen
that is a FEATURE, and allows you to run longer.
so if the battery is bad and overloads the power regs.
then it dims,

or the battery is only low, recharge it yet, even overnight?

Hello, Angela.
Don't you just hate when this happens?
so it just did this just today, ran for 12 years?
this PC, is 12 years old today. no spring chicken there.
I needs service, is that not obvious?
it's a double failure !!!
the CCFL lamps are dead in the base unit top screen.

those CCFL lamps are old and most did this long ago.

now the extra Monitors is used, on the VGA port.
and it works great, but windows is dead.
XP is virus magnet, that came with this PC.
and is DOOM things, now.
so is that old 12 year old HDD, doomed.
most never last over 5 years let alone 12.

what we do is run hard drive tests first.
wasting time and money on 12year old PCs is problematic, for sure TIME.
we can always find more money but no the sands of time.

WE run Linux demo boot media to test any PC made.
(we use the USB port to do that, faster)
We use this. (we means all savvy techs do this)
ok?

but first and always run this laptop on AC power only and with that old and now worse shorted battery removed first. get it the heck out of there now and first. and can do that forever.
but for now out it goes, until the PC runs right a again'

this PC has street value of $12.
sold on ebay used, so
buying a new $100 CCFL screen and new $50 hdd and then buying windows gain, is not wise is it.
$100 saddle on $5 horse (econ101)?
In this case $270 saddle on $12 horse, a bad idea?
CCFL _are the LCD back lamp tubes that are now dead. (
did this just happen?
or found this PC for $5 in garage sale?
no history stated, or even OS upgrades.

We run linux
then if hdd fails, we do econ101.
a chromebook for $100
or dump hard earned cash on this 12 year old junk class PC?

make boot USB stick, load Ubuntu on it
boot it and click TRY ME. this is DEMO mode.
only, and run smart tests

http://www.pcdied.com/linux.html

what we do is first test the PC, using simple methods
and what will be, will be...

But #1 is econ101
how much do you want to spend on $10 PC
that is always first out the gate.?
labor and parts and time wasted.?(even down time)
all that matters.

Constant beep is an error code. It could be a code for bad ram, but it more than likely sounds like a video card error. Do you have anything on the screen?
