axle look for two holes on the out side of the drums if they are there you can get bolts that will thread into these holes and that will back the drum off the axle If not look on the back of the brake

is the locknut a left or right hand thread I assume you're referring to the nut on the rear axle. The nut o the drivers' side is normal thread, the nut on the passenger side is reverse threads.
