1995 Nissan Pathfinder "cold start" Questions

cold start would rev to 1.5K to 2K RPM for about 5+ min. Before the gasket was replaced, it would rev at from 1K to 1.5K for less than a minute. This is only from a cold start and worse on a cold day.
