2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse "fix battery charger auto" Questions

fix it then take the starter and hook it directly to a 12 battery or battery charger to see if it throughs out the gear and spins. do that a few times if it doesnt spin or 1 in 5 tries its doesnt spin

Ideas? I am going to replace the other positive battery connector. I'll update after but I am doubtful this will be the fix. I would expect to find too much corrosion on the positive cable end
