flywheel creating a problem w/how far the starter can engage?????? Yes it is. As for the starter issue the company/supplier of the crank and flywheel should be able to direct you to the proper starter

engaging fully. I hope this helps you! sounds like your starter solenoid is bad, it the solenoid that pushes the gear forward for engagement, havn't worked on a lot of fords and may be wrong good luck
