2007 Volkswagen New Beetle Coupe "vw engine stopped driving battery" Questions

VW before they will reimburse me for the additional purchase. How do I know if the fcm is bad? Could it be something else? I HATE ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. Any help would be appreciated. I WOULD CHECK FUSE
