Did the connector from the replacement LCD
inverter fit in the socket of the motherboard? When you were replacing the LCD, did you have the battery out of the unit? And

This is a backlight fault.
This may have been caused by dropping (breaking the backlight tubes) or the
inverter circuit has become faulty.
This should not cost hundreds to repair.
