First you need to uninstall the driver for your old monitor. Then install the driver for the new monitor. With both drivers installed your computer is confused and shows the conflict as an error message. Hope this helps. more...

Have your tried reinstalling the video drivers? If you have exhausted any driver issues, it is most probably caused by the video card, try changing some color settings and profiles too more...
Certainly sounds like a driver issue, check your cards/onboard graphics make; and download latest drivers.
Are you able to pinch a monitor off a friend to try and pin it to a monitor or graphics problem?
