You can slave the EIDE hard drive off of the CD Drive, as long has it of your CD Drive. That IDE ribbon cable should have 2 connectors on it, one of them should be plugged into the CD more...

or if you can't, then call the Geek Squad or someone considerably more qualified than I.
It may be true that the sledgehammer hard drive, and reocnnect the new one using the exact same connectors.
