Logitech Cordless iTouch Keyboard/Cordless Optical Mouse 967204-0000 "sentences fresh" Questions

I can only type a few sentences then it seems to slow and will only recognize a letter a second and then slows, sometimes repeatttttting letters - like now. What can I do? Did you try fresh batteries
