Tomtom GO 300 GPS Receiver "light shoes change batteries" Questions

light comes on, on my sat nav why would this be? 2= But when i put it in car charge it works perfect 'Y'? 3= If ever i have to change battery how is this done? Thanking you Look forward to all replies
