Tape chewing My LG XBR446 DVD/VCR player has started chewing tapes. It's only 3 years old, my parents have the same model which is older but has no problems. How do I fix this? use a vcr cleaning tape
A VHS tape is in the recorder but will not eject. The flap opens when eject key is pressed, the cassette comes up, does not come forward, and then goes back down. The recorder then switches itself off
No picture when playing in VCR mode have you cleaned the heads recently?is there sound?check the tape you played to see if the machine is chewing up the tape and blanking the picture...good luck

Have never been able to record vcr to dvd...so I just used as a player. Rarely. Now chewing up VHS tapes you need to run a head cleaner through it, it may need to be done 2-3 times to free it up

...on the mech to wear out is the rubber pinch roller - when it becomes glazed or shiny, tapes can be chewed and/or the 'control track' drifts during playback - more so than when recording.
