When I go to safari it goes for a few seconds the shuts off and says the app closed unexpectedly Reinstall safari and make sure you use the latest version compatible with your G3.

Safari's Preferences: commmand+, (the comma key). In the small window that opens, select the "General" tab (if it is not already selected). You will see a field to type in the homepage of your choice.
