Mio 320C problems

The Mio 320C almost always switches to the charging screen when you turn it on,and will not let me access the Map program. The green light is on, showing a full charge when it does it. I have tried it by hooking up to the cigaret lighter as well as the USB port on the computer. The unit is 1 1/2 years old, but I have just started to try to use it. It's of no value when I can't enter a target location
