Check your vehicles safeties. Your ECM is probably programed for engine shutdown if it senses low oil pressure or low coolant level. Do a preliminary check.

You're fuel pump is located in the tank. It would be
illegal to mount the fuel pump in the cab. However
many fords mount the fuel pump shutoff relay behind
the right side kick panel. But I believe you're relay is
located on the upper left corner of the firewall. As to
the cutting out, it sounds like the choke is staying
closed(88 I think it's got a carburator) and dumping
too much fuel and not enough air for a warm engine.
Also I don't know how old the gas is, you may want
to give it some fresh stuff. Hope this helps.

The reset button is on the passenger side floor at the corner where the dash meets the door.You'll need to pull down the corner of the carpet to see it.
