The steps work as they should when we are not in camping mode. The problem ocurs only when we are camping. Where would the switch be located on the parking brake?

Check for a switch panel by the entry door, on a cabinet side perhaps. Essentially you're trying to turn the steps "Off" when they have opened. If you can find the switch and there is no effect. Additionally, your switch should turn off the sensor in the door jam that tells the step to close. Becareful to verify the steps are closed before travelling.

There sh I understand be a switch labeled "step" by the side entry door.

  • Joseph Aug 31, 2014

If the system is wired properly this is how it should work.

  • Joseph Aug 31, 2014

1 step switch in on position door should open step should go out.

  • Joseph Aug 31, 2014

    2. step switch off door should be closed to activate the last out feature. door in closed position . activate switch off. Open door . step will extend . close door step will not retract until the switch by the door is activated or the ignition switch is activated. ignition switch over rides all features and when door is closed the step will retract.

I know this is not much help but there has to be a switch that is activated when you are in "camping mode" that would keep it from constantly going in and out. When you are in "driving mode" that is exactly how they are supposed to work. I guess I would start on the instrument panel and look for something that would trigger it. It could be as simple as the parking brake.

On our Holiday Rambler, the step lock switch is on the dash just as you walk in. When not locked, the step moves in and out just as yours does when the door is opened and closed. And again make sure the step lock switch is deactivated when traveling or an expensive repair could be needed to replace the step.

2015 keystone Laredo 312re Slide not extending all of the way out. Supposed to be a manual override, but where?

I had this problem several years ago.
Problem can occur at least three ways:
1. Most likely, something is in the way. A displaced trim molding, the rubber seal has moved, or ? With the slide only slightly extended, using a flashlight and mirror, examine every part of the seal/body junction inside and out that you can. A straightened coathanger can help remove a foreign object.
2. The slide might be binding. The motor would hang, draw excessive current, and shut down. Testing this would involve manual slide extension. Not familiar with Keystone, but typically, you run it out with a crank. The crank location is a round opening under slide. Depending on length of slide, there may be two. If two, they must be actuated together, or each one alternately, a little at a time. On some brands, the gear train between actuator motor and slide MUST be disengaged to allow manual extension/retraction, it depends on how the manual extension works. Hopefully you have a manual that can explain the procedure. The crank(s) to extend/retract are usually stored in the bay(s).
3. The motor has weakened. This is unlikely, if the problem is just the last inch or so.

Good luck!

How do I manually close my sludeout

Is the system electric or hydraulic? If electric, on the opposite side of the coach from the slide out there will be a place to insert a manual crank handle. It may be in a compartment or under the entry steps. It will be a hole about 1 to 1-1/2" in diameter. If you look inside you will see a solid shaft with a cross pin. You will slide the manual crank handle onto that shaft and begin to crank and the slide will either come in or go out depending on the direction you crank the handle.

Where is the breaker switch on the Tuscany XTE

Probably near the spot where your electrical hook up cable comes out of your RV. Sometimes there is another sub-panel inside the RV ....Usually inside one of the smaller cabinet doors. Mine is under my oven/cooktop combo. Check the GFI switch too. Usually the plug receptacle in your bathroom. Push the test button....if it clicks out the other button....that means it wasn't tripped, if it doesn't click out the other button....you found the problem....press the other button to reset the GFI. Good luck and always work safely.

Check the switch inside the coach. Usually either the switch or the breaker fails.

How do i manually close slides?

On the opposite side of the coach from the slide you need to manually close. You should see a hole through the frame. You should have also received a crank handle that has what seems to be a piece of pipe with a notch cut into it. Inside the referenced hole you should see a shaft with a roll pin through it. Insert the crank handle until it is seated on the shaft with the roll pin then begin to crank until the slide is retracted.

Slide manual

On the opposite side of the coach from the slide there should be an access point that will allow you to insert a manual crank to retract or extend the slide. It is usually a small hole through the frame.

No electricity while using battery power

You will not have electricity while on battery power. Two different systems. Electric is 110VAC and battery is 12VDC. If on battery power the lights will work, the furnace will work (LP gas and 12v blower motor), the refrigerator will work (LP gas and 12v power for circuit boards) and the water heater will work (LP gas and 12v power for circuit board). The only way to have electricity while on battery is to install an inverter but you will need extra batterys and still will not have enough power to run the AC for any extended length of time.
