Hi, Based on your prior descriptions of the other buttons on the panel, I would believe that the red switch turns on another set of lights (possibly emergency lights of some sort). If your having worries about testing the switch, you can also reach out to the manufacturer by calling 866-472-5460 . Thank you.

Hi, please apply oil to piece of thin wood of cardboard and then reactivate process of exposing the RV step again. Also, please ensure that you're operating the RV in moderate temperature otherwise things like a malfunctioning parts could happen. Thank you.
