Looking for a cheap laptop for school

I'm looking for a cheap laptop for school this year. What do you recommend? I need one that is lightweight and has a good battery life. I'll be mostly writing papers and browsing the web with it.

I have owned this model laptop for a couple years now. It has power options that will allow you to modify the power settings to change the length of battery life. Mine has been around the world with me and has proven to be durable & dependable. The Wireless capabilities are outstanding and price starts at only $500.00..

I have never regretted this purchase.
