GPS recommendations?

I'm looking to buy a GPS for my daughter and would like some recommendations. A few things I think it should have: - text to speech directions - portable - decent battery life - maps for USA & Canada I'd appreciate any recomendations from anyone who's bought one recently. Thanks

garmins are simply the best. their routing calculations find the most efficient routes then magellan is next followed by tomtom(tomtom is better in europe)

the garmin nuvi 360 sounds like the perfect model for you. out of 709 customer reviews it has 4.5 out of 5 stars and only cost about $220. the higher the model the more features you'll get like mp3 player, bluetooth wireless calling, voice recognition etc... but i think the nuvi 360 will fit your needs best.
