Hi,
I'd recommend any of the full size front load washers built by Whirlpool, i.e. Maytag, Kenmore, Kitchen Aid, and of coures Whirlpool, etc. Ask your sales person specifically who the unit is manufactured by when shopping. Also If purchasing the kenmore at Sears, they offer an extended warranty matched by very few others in my experience.
It's actually more beneficial in my opinion to list those I wouldn't recommend.
Anything frigidaire/electrolux. that includes some, not all kenmore's, are electrolux/frigidaire.
Anything by GE/Mabe. Mostly made in mexico, and mostly junk.
Certainly the LG/Samsung look pretty, but are very gimmick oriented, most of the features are useless. There greatest accomplishment is thier direct drive washers which are awesome, I'll give them that.
Almost anything made in China..they may be cheaper up front, unfortunately they're much more throw away when needing repairs (Every machine eventually needs repairs, so consider you're expectations)
Any of the washer/dryer combo units. I don't mean the laundry system/stacked style. I mean the washer and dryer in the same machine, i.e. Spendid, Equator, Kariba, Thor, Clairitone.
The other's I would recommend are ok for large families but usually much more expensive, but for good reason in my opinion. They are the best if used properly, according to manufacturer's recommendations, detergents, no hot water inlet, but they have little foregiveness for overloading etc.
Those would be (in no particular order)
AEG
ASKO
BOSCH (these usually have hot & cold inlets, more north american really)
MEILE
CREDA
Off the top of my head, that would be it.
hope that helps,
Good Luck
