A combination washer/dryer gets all the laundry done in one machine and eliminates those annoying trips to the laundromat. It uses standard household electrical current. Appropriate for use by one or two people, this model will tackle a compact load of laundry, which is about 6.5 pounds of dry clothing. A sensor in this machine works for you and automatically sets the appropriate cycles for the load. Be prepared for a load in this type of machine to take quite a while; two to four hours to wash and dry per load is not uncommon. This model, from LG, has a 1200 rpm spin option that does a good job of removing moisture and thus speeds up drying, either in the machine or by hanging. The condensation method of drying is used in this machine. Such a system does not require any venting, but does take longer to dry clothes than conventional dryers. This model also differs from other brands of "combo" units in that it utilizes a direct drive motor system.
