1997 Volkswagen Passat Recommendations

The 1997 Passat is available in four models. The GLX sedans and wagons come with a standard 172 horsepower V6 engine and five-speed transmission. A four-speed automatic transmission is also available. The TDI model sedans and wagons get there titles from the Turbo Direct Injection engine, a revolutionary engine designed to offer competitive gas mileage and power without all the noise and poor emissions that (until recently) were synonymous with diesel powerplants. A new exterior paint color; Satin Silver is added for 1997. Standard safety features include side impact safety beams, daytime running lights and dual air bags. Anti-lock brakes are optional for the TDI models and standard for GLX. Leather seating is also available.
