Product Details
The 1997 Jetta is available in five models - The (Base) GL, GT, TDI, GLS and GLX. The new GT model is introduced with standard equipment like alloy wheels, rear spoiler, front fog lights and rocker panel covers. The interior of the GT includes special cloth seating surfaces, premium stereo system and unique silver faced instrument gauges. The Bose sound system is now available as an option, with the exception of the GLX where it is a standard feature. Jetta adds the TDI model (late March 1997) which comes with a Turbo Direct Injection diesel engine. One of the first of its kind to be offered in a passenger sedan. The TDI is nearly identical to the GL model with the exception of the note-worthy mileage ratings and standard cruise control.
