For 1997, the Achieva is available in four models - Series I and II coupe and sedan. The series III model was dropped from the line up. New features include the marginal traction indicator light in the instrument panel, theft deterrent labeling on all major body parts and a remote entry system which now uses rolling codes to prevent theft by copying transmitter codes. The exterior received two new colors and red was deleted from the interior. Functional improvements consist of long-life brake fluid standard on all models and the accelerator pedal was modified for easier operation. The sister cars to the Achieva are the Buick Skylark and the Pontiac Grand Am.
