Accelerated Graphics Port (AGP) is a point-to-point connection that allows 3-dimensional (3-D) graphics data to bypass the PCI bus, which is a bottleneck for today's PCI graphics computers. AGP allows 3-D texture data out of the frame buffer or graphics controller memory and into computer memory, freeing up frame buffer memory and bandwidth for other functions.
