Toshiba is upgrading thier Gigabeat F-series players on May 20th, taking the honor of being the first commercial devices to utilize a hard drive with perpindular-type storage. If you missed out on this innovation, check out Hitachi's educational video HERE (funny stuff). By using this technique they've managed to pack 40gb worth of capacity onto a single 1.8-inch platter, so the new 40gb Gigabeat (F41) will be just as slim as the current 10gb and 20gb versions, or about 3mm thinner. It also picks USB Host functionality while the new 10gb (f11) and 20gb (F21) will come in a couple of new colors like lime/yellow and orange. Otherwise they carry forth the same specs and features from the previous versions.
