As security threats have become increasingly complex, customers have responded by deploying multiple security solutions from multiple security vendors to protect their assets and ensure that critical business applications remain available to authorized users. This has resulted in steadily increasing cost of ownership and overall network complexity. At the same time, customers find it difficult to accurately assess the overall security of their environments due to the large quantity of data produced by the individual products, and lack the tools to effectively analyze this data.Symantec created SESA (Symantec Enterprise Security Architecture) specifically to address these issues. Unlike many management systems that focus on particular networking or security products such as firewalls or virus protection, SESA is an open architecture capable of integrating a myriad of security technologies across multiple enterprise tiers.
