not sure of the exact height, but if you hold the carb level with fuel hose attached and pushing float up with finger, turn on petcok and slowly lower the float until it is just above horizontal. at this point, gas should start to flow out of the needle & seat.

if float turns off gas too soon, then engine will starve.

if float doesn't turn off gas, then it will flow out of the carb overflow tube.

SOURCE: carburettor float level setting

Usually if the float is adjustable you will set it so if there is a flat surface on top or side of the float it will be parallel with the bottom surface of the carb body when the needle valve just closes (before depressing the spring in the needle)

SOURCE: just need the height setting for the floats the

YOU CAN ADJUST FLOATS WITHOUT SPECIAL TOOLS. ALL YOU NEED IS A FOOT LONG PIECE OF CLEAR TUBING, SIZED TO FIT THE BOWL DRAIN. SET FLOATS AS CLOSE TO WHAT THEY WERE WHEN YOU REPLACED IT. INSTALL THE BOWL AND PUT THE TUBE ON THE DRAIN. OPEN THE BOWL DRAIN SCREW WHILE HOLDING THE TUBE UP BESIDE THE CARB. WHEN YOU GET THE TUBE BESIDE THE CARB ASSY., THE GAS IN THE TUBE SHOWS YOU THE EXACT LEVEL OF FUEL IN THE BOWL. FROM THIS YOU CAN MAKE ANY ADJUSTMENTS NECESSARY FOR CORRECT LEVEL. THE LEVEL SHOULD BE RIGHT BELOW THE PLANE WHERE THE BOWL MEETS THE CARB BASE.

YOU CHECK FLOAT LEVEL LOOKING AT THE SIGHT GLASS ON THE RIGHT OF THE CARBURETOR.FUEL LEVEL SHOULD ALIGN WITH THE DOT ON THE SIGHT GLASS.IF THE LEVEL IS ABOVE OR UNDER THE DOT THE CARBURETOR HAS TO BE DISASSEMBLED.TO SET FLOATS REMOVE AND INVERT THE AIR HORN UNTIL THE FLOAT ARM JUST TOUCHES THE NEEDLEVALVE OR THERE IS ABOUT 0.1 mm OR 0.004 INCH CLEARANCE BETWEEN THEM.MEASURE THE DISTANCE BETWEEN THE BOTTOM OF THE AIR HORN GASKET INSTALLED.AND THE CENTER OF THE BOTTOM OF THE FLOAT.THE DISTANCE SHOULD MEASURE 36.4 mm 1.39 - 1.47 INCH. ADJUST BY TURNING THE NEEDLE VALVE SEAT.BE CAREFUL NOT TO ALLOW THE VALVE SEAT TO PROTRUDE FROM THE SEAT ATTACHING BOSS.WHICH WOULD ALLOW THE VALVE TO FALL.IF THIS IS THE CASE BEND THE FLOAT ARM SLIGHTLY UNTIL PROPER CLEARANCE CAN BE OBTAINED.WHEN CARBURETOR IS INSTALLED CHECK FLOAT LEVEL BY LOOKING INTO THE CARBURETOR FLOAT SIGHT GLASS I MENTION IN INFORMATION ABOVE.IF YOU HAVE A 1487cc AND 1600cc CVCC MODELS WITH THE KEIHIN 3 BARREL CARBURETOR.THIS WOULD DEALERSHIP JOB.THIS TYPE IS HARD TO ADJUST.

What is float height?

Float height is the level of the floats inside the bowl of the carburetor , this height regulates the level of gas in the bowl, If the level is too high, you won't have enough gas in the bowl to achieve proper jetting (you MIGHT seize the motor), if the level is too low, gas will leak out of the over flow and overall jetting will be off, (this is measuring the float level with the carbs off the bike/atv.)

2000 Suzuki GSX 600 F (Katana) how to set the float height

Remove the carbs from the bike, then remove the bottom of the carbs to gain access to the floats. You want to flip the carbs upside down and set them level by bending the tabs.

Hello, I have just replaced one of the carbs on my RD LC YPVS 350 as it was leaking from the overflow pipe. I have replaced the float and the bike is back running but now seems to be "holding back" on a...

By putting the choke on you are effectively making the fuel mixure richer. If this makes the bike run better, it points to not enough fuel.
As this started when you fitted a new carb, I would start by checking the main jet size on the new one you fitted, it could be too small. You will need to take the carb off and undo the four little screws on the float bowl. Take this off and roughly in the centre will be the main jet. You should be able to unscrew this and you will see a number written on it. This is the jet size. If you have a workshop manual, check to see if it is the correct size. You could also swap it from the carb that leaked.
If this is ok, check the float height. Again, this will be covered in the manual.
Incidently, why not just cure the leaking problem from your original carb. Remove the float bowl, you will see the float secured by a pin. Remove the pin and the float lifts away. Under it you will see the float needle. Tip this out and check its condition. Also check the brass seat where it came from for tiny specs of muck.
Finally, if you removed both carbs make sure you didnt switch float bowls by mistake. They are different!
good luck!

Floats not set

Float tabs come set flat to surrounding plate, bend up to decrease level and down to raise level. Raised level too much and you risk fuel overflow on sustained inclines and too low a level and you will lean out at high revs and damage valves/piston real quick. There is no set level to speak of, but better to err on the side of losing a bit of overflow. The overflow drains from the carby via a plastic hose from just above float bowl flange.
Cheers.

What is the float height setting for a 1984 harley davidson ironhead sportster with stock carburetor

With the float bowl off and the float assembled in the carb, hold the carb on it's side with the needle and seat hinge upwards.

Set the float height to 0.630" to 0.670" (16-17mm) from the "bottom" of the float to the gasket surface where the float bowl gasket seal is.

These carbs are notorious for leaking past the needle and seat even when the float level is set correctly. They make a tool for refurbishing the seat in the carb as it is not replacable but the tool is very expensive for what it is and the amount of use will get out of it ($100). Sometimes I've set the float level an additional 1mm low (18mm) to put more pressure on the needle if it does leak. Good Luck!

Need to know the flote height for a 1968 honda motorcycle 350

Hi! I presume you have a Kei Shein carburettor set up? if so there really isnt a float height as such, if you are experiencing flooding or fuel spewing out of the rear aperture it is more likely the float needle/valve is either worn or has foreign matter stopping it from shutting out the fuel supply.
When you take the float bowl off and look at the float you'll see at the end under a tang a tiny spring around the tang which is attached to the float needle careful removal will reveal all for servicing.
O.K. penny dropped? do you mean Needle Jet? if so try middle to start and check plug colour after good run, remember raising richens the mixture lowering weakens. Trial & error I'm afraid as mileage, wear and fuel quality all determine final result?
Good luck!
