The check engine light comes on when there is an issue with a sensor/sending unit/system/or something the pcm controls. The check engine light does not come on when there is a mechanical issue such as a bad lower intake gasket.

There are times when a mechanical problem can cause a sensor to read incorrectly and cause the check engine light to come on.

What does low oil pressure on 2008 Chevy Impala 3.5 V6 LS

Do you mean what causes low oil pressure? This is a very reliable engine for the most part. If the oil light is on or gauge is reading low, have the oil pressure sensor inspected for failure. These sensors do go bad.

Keys locked in 2007 chevy impala

stick a straightened metal coat hanger in between the door and the vehicle and fish for the unlock button. this is made easier by prying the upper part of the door open slightly with something that wont scratch the paint like wood or plastic.

My 2007 chevy impala engine light is on. I got a new gas cap. Auto zone scanned and cleared the car. 2 days later, the light came on again. Any idea what's wrong?

If I had a code? and engine code (8th VIN number) Stay out of ottozone, they just sell parts that they think you need. gas caps are rarely bad.

Where is the thermostat on a pontiac montana

Geez, don't make it easy on me! Duh, it would help if you told us the year of your Montana. Based on the absolute lack of info you've given, I can only tell you this. Follow the upper radiator hose back to the engine. The aluminum housing that attaches to the upper radiator hose [at the engine] covers the thermostat.
Drain the coolant from the radiator. Disconnect the upper radiator hose from the thermostat housing. Unbolt the housing from the intake manifold [2 bolts] & you will find the thermostat.

I HAVE A 2005 LINCOLN LS V6 THAT GOES TO FAILSAFE MODE I HAVE REPLACED THE COILPACKS AS NEEDED AND THE TACM BUT HASNT SEEMED TO SOLVE MY PROBLEMS NEED HELP

No need to replace an entire throttle body because of a
TACM code or ETC Fail Safe

You need to replace only (1) COP Ignition Coil that is bad
enough to cause your cars problem

It has not been diagnosed properly & I assume at a very expensive
cost to you so far

You could install one coil yourself at $38.00 on the internet,if you
knew how ,15min job.

If the bad coil is on the pass side of engine, then the upper intake
has to come off to get to the coils

Next vehicle,buy a V8

Water leaking from rubber elbow on intake manifold passenger side of motor

It could be the intake gaskets, or it could be that the upper intake is starting to fail. Both are common problems. How fast are you losing coolant? If it's fast, then it may be the upper intake. Also, how many miles are on it, and has the upper intake been replaced before? It may be due for a new one.

Anyway, the procedure for doing the gaskets and for replacing the upper intake are exactly the same, except that if you replace the upper intake, you put on the new one instead of reinstalling the old one. I've done this with mkaake over a couple of days. There's a lot to remove and replace, but nothing that's especially hard to do. Have a service manual of some kind on hand, and do some serious research before you take it apart.

Parts you'll need:

1) Upper intake gasket set
2) Lower intake gasket set (make sure it's the new upgraded version, with metal inserts)
3) Plastic coolant elbow (it's under the alternator, and rarely comes off in one piece. It's also a dealer part, so if you're doing this on a Saturday and the dealer is closed... you get to wait until monday to put it back together - unless you get one ahead of time)
4) Fuel injector O-rings (might as well replace those while you've got them out anyway)
5) Carb/TB cleaner - several cans (you'll want to clean up the upper and lower intakes, and the TB while you've got them off)

That's all I can think of right now. I also don't know prices. Maybe someone else will have that info.

Code reading

Hi. this code represents an issue within the mass air flow sensor. it is malfunctioning at this point. the mass air flow sensor Measures the volume and density of air entering the engine, so the electronic control module can determine how much fuel is needed to maintain the correct air to fuel mixture. There are two basic types: heated wire and heated film (grid); both work on the same principle.

A faulty MAF will cause driveability problems resulting from incorrect ignition timing and improper air/fuel ratios.

this device is located Under hood, center, upper engine area, mounted on rear of air intake duct

To replace a MAF sensor:
  • Locate the sensor.
  • Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  • Unplug the wiring harness and vacuum hose.
  • Unscrew the two screws holding the sensor in place.
  • Reverse the procedures to install a new sensor.
Please rate and god bless:)
