I have a 1998 vulcan nomad the oil light comes on at low rpm and my lifters rattle so of course I don`t ride it but I was advised that kawasaki had a problem with the oil pump drive gear being faulty because of the material it was made with and I want to know is there a metal or better quality gear I can use and how difficult is it to replace as far as repairing my bike and any suggestions on other damage to look for in case that the oil pump isn`t the main cause of my problem and I can make all repairs while the engine is already torn down. hi try another type of sparkplug.or see that the oil in engine is,
for summer or winter.use oil for bolt.

there a small bolt missing on the front of my kawasaki 1500 nomad that r not there and a little fuel come out from time to time do u no what it call so i can get another one to put there ? and after changing the oil bike wont shift gears help ? only first gear

TO ALL VN1500 OWNERS....This once happen to me,
I went to the garage to start the bike "Nothing ""The first thing is the lights are bright but no turning over,Next you think the solenoid is kaput but the answer was very simple and the fix takes 30 seconds..
Do not take the bike to bits looking for other problems and look at the clutch leaver and you will see some wires going into a plastic shroud going into the switch in the clutch leaver, Make sure this has not popped out if its connection as it some times may do after a few years due to constant turning on the handlebars,
When this is not connected you will have a bike that will not fire up but comes alive and you will hear a clicking noise but this is from the engine carb area and every function of the bike will work but it will not turn over, Worth looking at and saves sixteen quid for a starter unit you never needed.

I use 20/50 amsoil

check timing chain adjuster and make sure lifter rollers are not damaged.
