I have a 1990 ford f350 7.3 diesel engine non turbo 5speed 2 wheel drive was driving the truck around hauling horses and was driving great when on the way home the truck gave me issues only 3 times to shift into 1st and 2nd started seeing a little smoke coming from the gear shift on the floor and then the truck started jerking and locked up and quit moving but when the truck is in the nuturel position you can pull the truck and the rear wheels do move just wont move when you have it in gear it keeps stalling out when you try to move the truck.

1.9 diesel VW with a non working turbo is it OK to drive anyway ?

Personally I would NOT drive it. Get the turbo repaired/replaced! Modern vehicles have engine sensors that will cause even more running problems as they aren't detecting the turbo doing it's job.
Diesels will run without a turbo but they are usually ridiculously slow and really really struggle to accelerate. This is especially true on smaller diesel engines like those you get in cars and smaller vehicles. I had a turbo fail on a 2.0 litre diesel engine and with my foot hard down it took me well over a minute to hit 50mph, and that was before I got to any hills.

Hi how can I increase my horse power and torg. on my 1990 7.3 no power stroke?

Your 1990 will have an IDI 7.3 diesel engine in it and there isn't much you can do. You can turn up the fuel, but that is dangerous without gauges. Another option is to install an aftermarket turbo. If you want to turn up the fuel here is a link to the page that explains it. MAKE SURE YOU INSTALL A PYROMETER ( EGT gauge) FIRST!!!

Cant find fuel pump shut-off switch for 1994 ford f250 deisel 2 wheel drive

which diesel eng does the truck have? If its the powerstroke it is located on the firewall, if it is the non-powerstroke(IDI) engine it does not have one as the fuel pump is mechanical.

I am looking at buying a f250 with a 7.3 lt diesel i am wondering what the engines and auto trans are like the year it 1991 1nd it has done about 200,000km any in put would be great. cheers paul

The 7.3 in that year is one of the better ones.
Not much electronics to go wrong.
It is not a Ford engine but a International Truck diesel engine.
It is also used in many larger trucks and racks up high mileage with few problems.
Yours at 200km is almost.......just broken in!

The transmission is the weakest point in the drive line.......run a good BIG trans cooler if you are hauling heavy loads and stay out of overdrive when pulling or hauling anything heavy.

How to improve power without buying a new truck

a few things you could do would be to turn up the pump, bigger injectors, add a turbo and after cooler, and differents gears in the differentials and/or transmission, rear axle airbags would improve your ride quality too, also i beleive its a 444 cu. in. engine if its an international 7.3( ford 7.3 )
