I'm thinking of buying a new kymco venox 250[2010/2011] but with all the problems i have been reading about, should i look more at the 2009 honda rebel 250[if available] or the v-star yamaha 250 with the virago v-twin--i need reliability and great fuel economy for work commuting in the cruiser style--not the **** rocket style like the new honda cbr-250r-thanx-joe

I would definitely go for the Honda Rebel 250. It has fewer problems than the v-twin. I am also pleased you are not buying the Kymco bike. Honda dealers are almost everywhere. Kymco dealers are scarce as are the repair parts.

Kymco Venox 250 2nd gear slipping on hard acceleration.

Question edited for clarity. I am sure hard acceleration causes 'exhilaration', but it was the wrong word.

Second gear put the most strain on the clutch for the longest time. First gear is a short shift with the highest torque, second gear is a longer shift but only with marginally less torque. Either the clutch is badly adjusted or the clutch plates and springs need changing.
