When you say it's dropping you didn't quantify by how much. If it's slowly dropping, with only 1800 miles on the bike, it may still be breaking in. If that's the case, it would be normal to expect a higher than normal oil consumption until it is broken in.

Why is my Bose radio is too dim?

The Bose Wave Radio has two brightness levels: Bright Hi (with a range of 8-15, and default of 10) and Bright Lo (1-8, default 4). The radio automatically goes from Hi to Lo when a room is darkened so the display doesn't interfere with sleep.
On recent models you can reset the defaults to make the display brighter or dimmer in both Hi and Lo levels.
1. Press and hold the Alarm Setup (Menu) button on your remote until -setup menu- appears in the display.
2. Then press the Tune/MP3 button until Bright Hi- appears. Use the Time - or Time + buttons to change the settings.
3. Go to Bright Lo- and adjust that setting too if necessary.
4. Press Alarm Setup (Menu) again to exit setup, or simply wait 10 seconds.
You're done! Note that if you set both Hi and Lo to 8, the brightness will stay the same all day and night.

I recently had a 24k mile service to my VTX 1800. After picking up my bike and driving it for over 300 miles, I noticed oil dripping from the engine. After checking the oil level and the dipstick showing...

Did the service department forget to put on the sealing washer? Did the oil filter not seal? Did the technician forget to put oil in the engine?(or just not enough) Document everything ,monitor your oil, keep your fingers crossed. If the oil light never came on , you may be OK. If the oil level goes below the low mark oil consumption doubles or triples. In other words between the marks takes a long time, but below the mark goes fast. Of course the worst case scenario is a damaged motor that a thorough rebuild won't bring to it's original splendor. But if no damage was done , no loss of oil pressure, no scoring , etc. Than fix the leak and continue to enjoy your motorcycle. The dealer you went to should be able to offer an acceptable explanation of what went wrong. Whether it was there fault or something they had no control over (like a gasket failing after the cycle left the shop) If they are in error I would hope they would at least replace the oil or possibly offer a free oil change in the future(or the supplies to do it yourself). Be polite , if they treat you poorly find another dealer. Remember whoever swears first loses.

Oil change

The sight glass should show oil whenever the bike is stationary and level, either hot or cold. The warm oil concept generally applies for the easy pouring or viscosity of the oil. Warm oil flows better and is easier to drain from sumps, hoses, radiator's etc. Warm oil will drain better from all areas of the engine to give a better indication of the total oil in the system. The sight glass is generally hi-lo levels from top to bottom. Cheers.

You mean there's no dipstick for the tranny? How do you get oil into the tranny to top it off? If you do find a dipstick, check it with the motor running.

2004 GL1800 gauge shows overheating at 60 mph almost to red line

Hi there!

Poor oil circulation might be the cause, purchase a new oil filter (or clean it). Do an oil change.

I would recommend the K&N Oil Filters, they are reusable and have better flow than stock.

Hope this helps!
