Bmw 1 series petrol oil

You must have missed the rubber ring from the bottom or the oilfilter. If this ring is not there, it takes a while before the pressure goes up.

Make sure the mating surface is clean, next lube the gasket in the oil filter with some fresh oil using your finger. Tighten 1 1/2 turns after gasket contacts. If this doesn't work it might not be the filter that's the problem...

Oil filter change

the amount of oil to refill the sump will be the regular amount plus 1/2 pint for the new filter. You will need to know the sump capacity ( from a owners hand book for your engine)

Furnace wont run after running

There are a few posibilities:
1) the oilfilter needs cleaning
2) your pressure reduction bore needs to be changed
3) there is still some air left in the oil-tubes coming from the tank and leads to your burner
The best solution is to call a technician, he'll fix the problem in no time and while he is at it, perhaps he could perform a maintenance

Oilfilter

You didn't post the size of motor but once you drop the skid plate, you will see it.

The oil filter is under the engine skid plate. You need to remove the trap door to see.
The skid plate door is located by the drivers side door, directly midway underneath the vehicle. You will need a flat or Phillips-hear srewdriver to open the trap door. Don't worry, the screws are 'loss-proof' and will not fall off the trap door plate. Once this has been removed, the oil drain plug and oil filter are now visible and accessable (how smart is that!) Typical oil change and oil filter replacement time = 15-20 mins. for a familiar shadetree. p.s. The Inline 6 (24 valve - 4.2L) takes 7 quarts of oil. Good luck!
