My Majesty has developed a high pitched whistle somewhere around the front end that starts at about 30mph and gets louder the faster I go. I can't seem to locate the actual source of it. It's driving me nuts! Does anybody have a solution for this?

Yeah, getting into an accident and totaling the bike pretty much took care of it

Lol, hope you are ok. BTW I did found the root cause of the problem incase someone else maybe running to the same. Its the speed sensor. the MFG don't put enough grease and overtime the grease escapes or disappeared. I re-greased mine and noise is gone.

Wheel bearings or hubs.If you listen and turn one way or the other the sound goes away. It's usually the one your turning towards, and the sound goes away. Here's the process.

SOURCE: high pitched rev when accelerating up to 30mph

Sounds like the clutch is failing. The engine is reving up and the bike doesn't as much? the screeching is the clutch slipping, check to be sure the clutch is adjusted with free play at the handle and smooth operation ( cable works smoolthly ). Then reserch how to get the cluch set and when it arrives change the clutch. It's possible that the primary gear set has failed is it really loud? Take the cluch cover off and inspect for busted parts and striped gears. what ever you find write down the parts needed and put it back together as the longer it's apart the more likly you'll never get it fixed.

SOURCE: I have a 2008 yamaha

More than likely this is caused from a vacuum leak somewhere. The whistling is getting to be a higher pitch once it gets to higher rpms. What I always suggest is to kind of fog the engine and carbs with starting fluid while the engine is running. It will cause the engine to rev up when the starting fluid is sprayed near the leak.

SOURCE: as im driving my bike

if its valve chatter you will hear it just under the valve cover pretty pronounced, but usually valve chatter gets quieter as the bike warms up, you might look into your cam chain adjuster those get loud and chatty at higher rpms.

Makes high pitch whistle

indicates wind turbulence noise
possible around rear view mirrors , weather shields , door edge , bonnet edge , headlights
trial and error is to place tape over adjoining edges to see where a placed tape stops the noise

Noisey front end

first check the plastic splash panel under the front of the vehicle
they have a habit of breaking off the mounting pegs and flap from the air flow under the front of the car
the faster you go the harder they flap
abs and traction lights work off the same wheel sensors so there could be a broken wire to a wheel or a problem wheel sensor
wheel bearings are a growl or a disc brake scratching noise on cornering
cv joints click going slow and when on slight turns
the abs sensor is part of the hub so that brings it back to wheel bearings
best idea is to go to an accredited service center and have a proper diagnosis done and a quote and don't spend a dime until you have that done

Whistling Noise whilst driving

As with all unusable vehicle noise complaints it is important that the noise be listened to first hand, so have a shop test drive this with you on board to point out the noise to them when you hear it start in your vehicle

My 2003 Ford Explorer has a high pitched whistle around 2000 RMPs. If I accelerate or decelerate the whistle stops. I've replaced the idle aircontrol valve, as I read this could be a possible solution to...

you may have a tensioner or idler pulley starting to go bad. They make a high pitched whistle when the bearings are on thier way.

Simply have someone slowly bring it up to 2000 rpm and listen with the end of a wooden broom handle touching the center bolt on each. Be careful not to get caught.

If you're not used to this you may be able to hear it whithout use of the "hearing aid"

Your drive belt may simply need dressing. You can buy this at almost any auto parts store for about 4 bucks. (dont use anthing else as you will cause the belt to stretch creating more issues)

High pitched whistling on startup - madza121

The symptoms sound like a loose fan belt to me. That is normally described as a screech instead of a whistle but everything else matches.

This should not be hard to fix your self. Also a mechanic should be able to do it in 10 minutes including chatting to you.

If it is a fan belt your mechanic will know the sound 4 streets away too :)

For a short term fix and to prove if this really is the problem you can get your self something called "Belt Grip" It is in a spray on can. Follow the instructions on the can and if it fixed the problem you have the cause. Either get someone else to tighten your belt up or figure out how it's done. Basicaly you just loosen an adjusting bolt normally on the alternator and slide it out a little bit on it's track then tighten it up again.

Hope this helps
