Hi just had the dealer check my 94 heritage out cause I had front end wobble on decell he found front tire out of balance and adjusted the steerig head bearings. Well dumb me I wanted to see how much he torqued the steering head bolt so I accidentally loosened it a bit then tightened it back I wouldn't have screwed it all up would I have ?

Dealer advised me just to make sure I torqued it back to 60-80ft pounds

    Thank you for your help

It handles amazing now , feels like any lean with my body makes the bike lean so responsive now

Thanks so much again for the replys. One more thing if it is ok to ask I was going to head to work today when I discovered the bike wouldn't turn over. Now you know how there are two toggles on a heritage on that turns on the auxiliary lights and one that turns on the headlight but only when the bike is running. Well if you left the headlight toggle on even though the bike is off and the lights not on. Over a period of time would this discharge the battery ?

    Thank you kindly

That charging problem I was mentioning. I'm only getting 12.5 volts at the battery with it running I put a new regulator in and no difference. The stator is getting 14-16 ac volts just idling and going higher with revs. But no voltage higher than 12.7 on the battery with revs could it be I didn't let the new battery charge after putting in the acid or is it something else thanks

You should be okay. If the handlebars turn left and right without resistance and there is no slop in the steering stem.

Good to hear the bike is okay. Much less than 60 ft pounds and the bike is sloppy. Much more than 80ft pounds and the bike is stiff.

If the light isn't on it is not draining the battery. Be sure the water in the battery covers the plates in each battery cell. Bike battery life is usually about two years. After that they start accepting less ans less of a charge. The older battery also begins to hold a charge for less time.

Bike electrics are not my specialty. I would hate to advise you incorrectly. My understanding is that there should be 14 to 14.5 volts at the battery with the bike at 1000 rpm.

Steering wheel wobbles when driving slowly and in a straight line

you need to have your tires checked for a slipped belt, also if you get a shake in the steering wheel when you apply the brake you need to have the brake rotors re-surfaced or replaced.

I have a hi speed front end wobble And just put a new front balanced tire and it still wobbles..

Did you line up the dot on tire with the valve stem ? if not break tire down and line up bal dot and re bal. If it is taking alot of weight try relocating tire on wheel until you find a better bal position that dont require alot of weight.
I have had new tires cause wobble , spin tire on bike and check for wobble in new tire.

FJR1300 front end wobble @

Yeah, I'd say your front wheel is out of balance, might have thrown a wheel weight. Or somebody put some flat repair in there and it gobbed up in one spot. Get the wheel balanced, high speed, and if it still wobbles, get a steering damper on there. I had one om my monster when I bought it , but didn't really need it, so I took it off,. Hope this helps.

Steering wobble at 65km decelerating

No this is not normal. I had to go through 2 different times having a tire balanced once to get a wobble out.

Front end wobble/shake when at low speed or in a corner.

Hi,
There can be a few issues going on that will cause this.
(1) Bad wheel bearings
(2) Warped rotors
(3) Bent front rim

First thing to do is get the bike up on the center stand, or bike jack so the front end is off the ground. You may need someone to push down on the rear to get the front tire off the ground.
Grab the tire and try to move it side to side. If you feel movement, then you will need to have the bearings replaced.
Next rotate the tire and watch for wobble in either the wheel, or the rotors. The shop that replaced the tire should have noted a rim problem when they balanced the tire if that was the issue.
Warped rotors will give a very pronounced wobble at low speeds, and more of a vibration at higher speeds, and it will be most noticeable when braking.
If you have run into anything with any force lately, you may have a bent front axle. I'm assuming that is not the issue.
...word of advice...find a good bike mechanic. Most auto mechs have no clue when it comes these Goldwings.
Hope this helps...Ride Safe...Have Fun

Had two recent occasions when the front end of my 1999 Jeep starting shaking when I hit a rought surface of the higway. Very frightening. I was told that I would probably need a front steering damper...

Ok, I figured out what was wrong with my 2005 Wrangler. By installing the coil spring spacers, I reduced the actual Caster angle of my front end. When I hit certain bumps at certain speeds, the front wheels would wobble back and forth violently as if i was pushing a bad shopping cart really fast. Anyhow, the dealer has replacement eccentric bolts to adjust the caster, but they didn’t stock them and they cost over $50.00. So, I opted to make my own off set washers to push the lower portion of the axle forward (gaining positive Caster). If you think this may help you, feel free to contact me at [email protected] .
