The oil drain for your Sporty should be on the left side down low behind the engine below the swingarm pivot. It a short piece of hose that looks like it plugs onto the frame. Least ways that where they were on the 'O2 models. In years past, Harley used to put a drain plug on the bottom of the engine so that if the engine got fulled with oil or fuel, you could drain it out. If the bike sits long enough, oil will seep past the check ball in the oil pump and the oil in the tank will settle in the engine. Also, if a piece of trash gets in the needle and seat of your carb, it can fill the bottom end of the engine with fuel. But, in 1996, Harley came out with a vacuum operated fuel valve that is supposed to shut the fuel off when the engine stops running. However, since it is a mechanical component, it can and does fail. I'm guessing that the bolt you pulled out,if it was directly on the bottom of the engine is just such a drain.
On the Road King, the oil pan is on the bottom of the transmission. Usually the engine oil drain plug is the one closest to the left front of the pan. The transmission oil drain is also under there so make sure the right oil is coming out. If it looks too clean, you're probably draining the transmission.
Look for a drain plug under the deck in the bottom of the engine (under the deck) known as the crankcase housing. Drain plugs come in different forms, but you will know it when you see it. IF there is no plug on the engine bottom, then check for a small plug on the side of the engine (above the deck) with a square head. That would be removed and the mower tilted that way to drain the oil. If no plug on the side of the engine then the oil will have to be drained out the oil filler tube. Remove the dipstick and tilt the mower that way to drain the oil.

The oil tank is on the bottom of the transmission. If you look under the bike, the oil drain is drain plug closest to the left front of the tank. The drain closest to the center drains the transmission. Check the oil in both the engine and transmisson before starting the engine.
To refill the transmission oil, take the small round inspection plate at the top of the primary cover off. I think your primary holds about a quart of transmission lube.
To drain the oil, look on the left side of your bike below the battery. There should be a hose that has either a plug in it or that looks like it plugs onto the frame somewhere. When you loosen the clamp and pull the plug or the hose off the frame, the oil drains.
If you have trouble locating it. The hose comes from the very bottom of the oil tank on the backside. Find it and follow the hose to the end.
A Harley-Davidson engine is what is known as a "dry sump engine" in that it doesn't carry it's oil supply in the crankcase but rather in an external oil tank. In your RK, that oil tank is on the bottom of the transmission. There are two drains on the bottom of the oil tank on the bottom of the transmission. One looks like a plug and the other looks like a recessed pipe plug. The large plug on the left front corner of the pan is the engine oil drain. The smaller pipe plug type drain is the transmission drain.
The oil filter is under the engine towards the front, black canister ,and the drain plug is at the very bottom of the engine in the middle probably 12 or 13mm spanner, when removing dont loose the copper or alloy seal washer, allways warm the engine first,to help drainage of oil ,and replace with quality 15/40w motorcycle engine oil, semi synthetic never use car oil.
