Have the clutch checked first by a mechanic you trust-perhaps a small shop with a good reputation. The clutch could just be worn out. If the clutch checks out okay, then he will want to check the tranny itself next.
Good luck to you and Thank you for using Fix ya!
I have a 96 camaro, 5 speed that recently had the same problem. I thought for sure I had to replace the clutch. It turned out the hydualic fluid was low. The fluid is for the slave cylinder that controls
the clutch. If it is low the clutch will only be partially working. It is locating by the fire wall beside the brake master cylinder. Top it up if it needs it and check the levels periodically to make sure the slave cylinder is'nt leaking. good luck
