ya just change it it cannot hurt the engine. oil is good 4 it actually

1. Switch off your engine.
2. Turn on the ignition key but do not start the engine.
3. Get to N.
4. If it is still difficult, clutch in an out several times.

If you haven't changed your seals in over 5 years, get your seals changed. Major surgery? Nah... Fork seals is a common procedure, A real good repair shop should be able to do in within the 1 to 2 hour range, depending on the condition of your bike.
