You already know that they need mixed oil and gasoline to run because that's how the piston and well keep lubricated. You must NEVER run your saw without mixed oil.
1.Place the saw on the ground and turn on the switch to run position. Then pull the choke lever.
2.With the saw firmly in place pull the starter rope on the opposite side of the bar and chain side. Pull it until you hear it start and run for a few seconds. (Do not press the gas accelerator at the handle just yet).
3. Pull the starter rope again and this time when it starts up push in the choke lever. Some saws have a primer pump that you use to pump gas into prime the carb. But most do not.
4. Once the saw starts , then that's all you have to do. Most saws are
fitted with an auto oiler that keeps the chain lubricated. All you have to do is make sure that the oil tank is full. Fill it up with oil when you refuel your gas tank .
5. Practice a bit before attempting to cut anything if you are completely new to using a chain saw. These things can cut your legs, finger or any part of your body with just a touch from the turning chain. Practice cutting a few branches by running the saw to a good amount of RPMs. (Kind of fast )Then gently placing the running chain against the branch. Don't throw the bar down at the branch. Be careful the end of the bar does not touch anything on the tip , It may bounce up and like I tell you once they touch anything they will cut into it. That's why they have a brake, in case the saw bounces back your hand on the handles will throw the brake back and activate the brake. then you will have to push the brake guard to the front to start cutting again.
6. You will get used to knowing how much pressure to apply for the chain to do some good cutting. Always keep your chain from touching anything metal or dirt or rocks . These things will dull your chain or totally ruin it. So be very careful to not let the chain near any of these.
Dirt is the usual cause of getting a dull chain. A rock or metal will destroy your chain.
ALWAYS work safe. Chainsaws are an excellent tool but very dangerous. You have to always keep your eyes open on what you are doing. They don't discriminate on soft stuff or hard stuff. They just CUT.
If you are a complete novice you should seek some training before attempting to use the machine, as you do not say what model this is we will go through basic starting procedures, fill the fuel tank with fresh fuel mixed with two stroke oil at 25-1, fill the chain oil tank with a non fling chain oil, switch the ignition switch to on, pull the choke fully out, push in the deco valve if fitted, place the machine on the ground, with the tip of the bar away from any obstructions, put your right foot through the back handle to hold the saw down, place your straightened left arm and hand onto the top handle again to hold the machine, now with your right hand crank the engine until it fires once, at this point push the choke fully back in, crank the engine once again until it fires up, flick the trigger to dissengage the part throttle , the machine should now idle.
Be carefull.
