Not getting gas, since gas is going to carburetor then the carburetors float/needle is not working, will need to clean/rebuild/replace carburetor. I am assuming that the mower sat awhile with gas left in it and the gas has gummed up the carburetor, sometimes it will clog the lines, filter and pump, you can use carburetor cleaner to clean it up and you may want to try blow air through the ports, Good Luck Tim

sounds like it could be the air to fuel ratio. if it only want to run with the choke on. I would say to make sure all your nuts and bolts are tight and that you check the gaskets in between the carb and the motor. another thing you could do is get a can of starting fluid and spray it around the carb while the motor is running (do not spray it in the carb)if the idle changes or if it dies you need to replace gaskets.
Are you sure its not really running out of gas ? The fuel pump gets power from the pump relay for 3 seconds when you crank the engine, then the computer must "see" oil pressure or RPM to allow the relay to continue powering the pump. The pump relay may not be working, or the pump may be faulty.
Try pulling out your choke and not reving the engine if your engine fails to stay started depress the choke and try again but this time jump on your bike and don't give the scooter two much gas and run it around a little bit, you might need to place some premium gas in it. I't could well be bad gas. How long has the scooter been sitting?
Do you mean that you can start it normally using the choke (that would be choke CLOSED), but then it dies immediately when you move it to run (that would be choke OPEN)? And if you leave the choke in the starting position that it dies after 20-30 seconds?-----
If I have that all right, then you definitely have a restriction in the gas supply. Drain all of the gas from the mower and don't use any old gas. If you have any more old gas (from last season) don't use it. If this mower has a gas filter, replace it. Put just a little fresh gas in the tank plus a little of the cleaner. Start it up, do that a few times if needed. Use a fuel additive such as Sea Foam to keep the gas from gumming up so fast.
check to make sure your kill switch is not shorting and you have the right gap from the coil to the flywheel also if the flywheel sheer pin is damaged in the least this will cause a multitude of problems... it is the timing pin and must be in good shape not damaged or sheered ..any way reply to [email protected] and i will try to help you through this.... DALE good luck and will wait for reply..
Yes, Your carburetor sounds like it needs cleaned. Or you may possibly need to purchase a carb. kit for your trimmer if the cleaning doesn't do any good. When cleaning the carb. use a Den Tek Brush, (teeth cleaning brush), to clean the small ports. Also, check the small screen in carb. Can get clogged easily.
