Question about 2000 Suzuki VL 1500 Intruder LC

1 Answer

Bike won't start. Battery is good. Lights come on and indicator lights (neutral and engine) lights light up. Nothing happens when starter button is pushed as if no juice is getting to it.

Bike wont start, turn the key n everything lights up as normal, press the start button n just nothing

It could be the link from the starter button to the ignition coil. If you can check this for a current it should give an indication of the problem.

97 Suzuki LS 650 Savage won't turn over. Battery is charged to 12 volts, and I replaced the fuses, but still nothing. When I push the starter button nothing happens. No clicks, no lights dimming.

if you can arc and get it to work
what are the battery terminals like... clean and tight
check continuity for the earth chassis to battery neg - terminal wire
also the wire voltage to the starter from pos battery
if that checks out
bench test starter
solenoid not kicking out properly or problem with lazy starter motor

Is the engine rotating? Is the battery good ? Do you have spark? Do you have fuel

Just finished driving car, tried to start it back up and nothing happens. Radio works fine, lights come up but car won't start.

if starter is not engaging or clicks then have battery load tested. if battery checks good then test the voltage draw on the starter, may be dragging when it gets hot.

Which engine oil for gsx 1100 1982 model,, also any help on this i have attached a fully charged battery nice bright lights and indicators,, but the the essential bit the ignition not a peep out of it ???...

A bike of that vintage should have 10W40 in the summer, and 10W30 in the winter.
Check your fuses for the starter issue, and also check the neutral and clutch safety interlocks.
Most bikes won't start is they think they are not in neutral or the clutch isn't pulled in.

I have a09 street bob that won't start. The lights come on, I can hear the engine whine when I put it in on, but when I press the start I get nothing. Not even so much as a click.

Sounds like a battery low on charge. As the bike has huge pistons compared to a 4 cylinder machine, it's harder for the starter motor to turn and needs more power.

Try charging the battery, on a proper charger not an optimate battery conditioner type.

When starting turn any ancilaries (lights, heated grips etc) off.

Good Luck

2001 aurora won't start at all. Hook batery up horn horn sounds and doesn't stop head lights stay on but nothing happens when the key is inthe ingition. No clicking or anything at all. alarm on...

The security system does not disable the starter, it only disables fuel to the engine. In the fuse block under the hood, locate the STARTER relay. Place your hand on this relay and see if it clicks while someone else turns the key to start...if the relay is ok then the starter itself is faulty. Good luck, i hope this helps.

My bike won't start(lights light ,horn works push starter button nothing no power to spark plugs ??? i belive one of the starter interlocks must be stuck in an open position possibly?

Hey, When that happened to me I took the bike half apart and it ended up being the Kill switch. Try rocking it back and forth also if you have contact cleaner flood the switch and let it dry then give it a light spray of wd-40. also check the start switch to be sure it is making contact, bike is in Neutral and the kick stand switch is also working.

Starting fault

There are two safety switches that you may need to test. 1) Neutral safety switch- this switch is what tells the bike that it's in neutral and allows the starter to engage. 2) Kickstand safety switch- this switch will not allow the bike to run in gear if the kickstand is down. My initial guess is the neutral safety switch. If the neutral safety switch is bad, then you will not be able to start the bike with the kickstand down because the bike thinks that it's in gear (even if in neutral). This also may explain why the initial intermitent problem of not starting when warm since the metal contacts will expand and possibly not make contact when warmed up. Are you trying to start the bike with the kickstand up or down? If it were the kickstand safety switch, the bike would probably start okay and then die when you put it in gear.
