You may not have the kicker gear on the inside of the clutch release housing timed right. The gear has a knob on it that has to be against the stop inside the housing when the kicker is all the way at the top. Also, you must have enough spring tension on the kicker return spring to hold the kicker up firmly. If you don't, the kicker will bounce up and down while riding down the road. Make sure you've got the spring wound up tight enough.

Good Luck

My son's dad came over and took apart my 1978 Yamaha GS80 to check carb and clutch. He never put it back together. How can I do this

Hi, Anonymous the answer to this question is way above my pay grade and for this situation, I would call my local dealer or reputable shop's service/parts department and inquire about any possible quick fix, answers, or parts inquiry.
Good luck and have a wonderful day.

83 flh classic touring bike, clutch not working, where is the throw out bearing, is it on the clutch release arm, fingers in tranny? do you have a diagram, its an flhc

The throw out bearing is in the clutch release mechanism in the right side cover of the transmission. It is a "radial bearing" that is about the size of a nickel and is held on by a minuscule little snap ring. If the clutch cable is not adjusted correctly and keeps the bearing constantly engaged (no free play in the lever) or the oil slinger is left off the clutch release rod, the bearing will overheat and fail.

To change the bearing, drain the transmission and remove the right side end cover of the transmission. The bearing should be right on the end of the rod that operates the clutch. It consists of two hardened washers, a flat radial bearing, and a small circlip.

I want to change the outer cv boots on a 2002 suzuki esteem with Manual tranny. We have take the tranny out as we are going to replace the clutch and release bearing. How should I change the cv boots?

your problem is that the boots are put on as they are assembled, so you need to take the joint apart to put the new boots on. it is cheaper to exchange the entire half shaft for a rebuilt one with new boot than to take them apart and put them back together.

alternatively most parts stores sell a couple different sizes of "split boots". these can be put on as they wrap around. surgical cleanliness is a necessity as they are glued on.

depending on the age of your shafts, you may want to go with new or rebuilt shafts to save yourself repeated labor next year.

I took apart my PS3 Dual shock 3 controller and painted up. When i put everything back together and I tried turning on the PS#3 but it wouldn't turn on. When i was putting it back together it kept turning...

i would suggest reversing the steps you took and look for anything you missed or improperly placed components because you said it kept turning on so something got pressed together improperly and is giving you the negative results your having im sure you will figure it out

Rebuilding 1995 honda civic transmission

Did you make sure that the tork converter was all the way forward first if not then you will need to take the transmission back out and make sure that the converter has either automatic trany fluid in it or 184/85 gear oil depending on whether or not you have automatic trasmission or manual fill it up until you can put your finger in it and then rotate converter clock wise and it should slip into place before putting trasmission back into car and if after doing that and you still are having trouble take it to a transmission shop to have them do it for you.

Clutch Adjustment Issues / 78 Yamaha XS 650

Disconnect the clutch cable at the case then see if the there is any resistance in the clutch lever in-out movement. When the tank was remounted the cable may have gotten pinched or moved out of proper routing. If I understand correctly, prior to the frame painting the clutch was okay, but after the paint it was not, and the left and right side cases and clutch were not touched. Obviously you used the wrong brand of paint. The clutch would have been fine if you had used Krylon brand paint. Post a comment and let me know what you find.

Canister will not release

I've done that.
There is a stem that runs down the center of the cyclone that releases the bottom. You didn't get that stem back in place. The only thing you can do is pry it open, hope is doesn't break, and put that cyclone back together correctly.

I've never broke one, but I had to pull pretty hard. Thought I was going to.

Good Luck
