If you have a FI fault registered then it would be a good idea to find out what is causing it. If you have disconnected something to over ride the Maximum speed sensor you won't stop the FI light bar pulling out the dash and removing the LED. You could also put some electrical tape over the light. The FI fault light is there for a reason, I would look into keeping the function or fixing the problem.
