Question about Honda GL 1100 Gold Wing Motorcycles

1 Answer

Started my honda after the winter storage. Run a bit ruff but OK. Moved it from the trailer to the driveway. Oil started leaking out. Fixed that and then it wouldn't start - only clicking when I hit the start switch. Battery is good.

Short across the starter solenoid , if starter turns the solenoid at fault.
Check connections to clutch switch and prop stand switch as these are interlocked to the starter solenoid ie. if these are not operating correctly the solenoid will not operate.
Just thinking this because clutch and stand switch will have been operated when you moved the bike.
hope this helps

My 2000 Honda VT1100 C has leaked all of it coolant.

Fill the cooling system with coolant and run the engine. If the coolant is below the water pump, then you have to replace the pump (located on the lower left side of the engine when the engine is running, see if the pump dripping coolant). To replace the pump, you have to take off the engine.

Bike has been sitting without being started this winter. is it ok to start or better to have it picked up and serviced

There is no reason why it cannot be started, although you may have a bit of a difficulty doing this. As a precaution replace all the gas with fresh gas and try clear the carb/injector.

Ok I have a 2005 tribute and I always run

This car has a catalytic converter, you can't see the smoke of the burned oil with it, it's cleaned. The oil could get in the plugs cavity only if there's a leak at the valve cover. My guess is that the oil seeps out only when there's pressure - the engine is running. To find where it leaks clean your engine thoroughly the start the engine in your driveway for an hour - where the oil will leak you clearly see it. In that case replace the corresponding seal.

Losing pressure more and more often, especially

not quite sure where to get the parts, but if the pressure starts out ok and decreases as it runs, it is generally that the piston rings/seals are worn out, this can happen just from sitting up over the winter.

You can google Honda Pressure Washer Parts to find a supplier for the seals/rings

If it is carb version check if auto choke is getting power. If fuel injection replace temp sensor (common fault).
