All bullets as brand new, requires more effort to switch the gears when compared to other bikes. All sounds will be minimized after 3000 kms or You will get used to.But not to worry

This bike has done 14000 kilometres. When starting it recently I heard what sounded like a metal-on-metal sound coming from the motor. What could be the cause?

It could be any number of things..First off, just like a car,the oil settles when the bike has not been ridden awhile..Worst case scenario it could be your clutch but without knowing what kind of bike it is or your riding habits..I.E. Gunning it..Not letting it warm up before you take off like a bat out of he'll..I mean how does it ride? Are you able to shift it smoothly? Is the shifting rough and erratic? I want to hear from you again on this cause it may be simple as changing the oil..Or not..Let's hope for the best..

I'm having a hard time getting the bendix gear back in the old one came out but the new is giving me a hard time

I suggest freezing the gear over night to shrink it a bit. And then applying some heat to the metal of the seat before inserting the cold Bendix gear.Be careful not to ignite any grease. Best done in an open well ventilated area. At your own risk.

Wheel turns stiff

Sounds like the grease in the main bearings has hardened. If so, it will require complete disassembly and flushing out the old grease (either, penetrating oil, etc) and repacking the bearings with lubricant.

I bought a used Kia Sportage with diesel engine and manual transmission. My problem is when i shift gear from 1st to 2nd gear it makes metal to metal sound. A mechanic replaced 3 pcs. synchronizers but...

box repairs not done correctly
you may have to take it to a transmission specialist for an overhaul
or get a good unit from the wreckers/junk yard and fit it

Every now and then there is a static like sound underneath my 2004 Chevy Avalanche. mostly in 1st gear and stops once i hit 2nd and third gears. it is not to loud, but very annoying. what could this be??

that sounds like a loose heat shield on the exhaust sytem ..... thats thin sheet metal under the hot parts of the exhaust system ... you can have them replaced or add new clamps to tighten them its easy to check them on a rack .. .. ..

Brand new 2009 Envoy won't shift out of first gear and the dealership says theres no problem with the transmission. No problems appear on the computer

My GMC 2004 Envoy when in drive will not shift out of 1st gear. When driving the Transmission doesn't sound like it's slipping. Does anyone know what the problem might be?

Transmission

The 5r55w transmisson is known for wearing out the case where the front and middle band servo pins go thru. If it wore the front band servo, it would slip in 2nd. But if it slips in 1st and 2nd it sounds like it could be a weak forward clutch. How many miles does it have on it. If you can get it up into the higher gears, does it slip in 5th. 2nd and 5th use the same band to apply them. Are you gettting and overdrive off light flashing? IF yes, what codes?

Automatic transmission sounds like it stuck in 3rd gear

You need to check the transmission fluid level, if it is low the tranny will not shift. If, however, the fluid is to the proper level then you will need a new transmission.
Try putting new fluid in and look for a leak in the pan gasket, then all you may need is a transmission service. When the service is done the mechanic will look for pieces of metal in the old fluid, if found this is very bad and you will need a new tranny.
You might consider a new or used car, you can definately find a good deal out there!
