SOURCE: wiring problem

Check to make sure the coil is getting 12 - 14 volts when the key is on if so replace the coil, you must also check the ground to ensure it has good continuity. Check it with a volt meter set on the OHM sign or the icon that looks like an Upside down U, when checking each side the reading should be pretty close to the # 0

if you are getting gas, it's probably too much. is it flooding the motor. make sure your float level height is okay and that your float needle valve assembly is clean and not sticking. if you have an electronic choke, try disconnecting it. it might be malfunctioning. also a possibility your valves need to be adjusted.

Pulsar 150 wont show spark

Remove the spark plug, keeping the cap connected to the plug. Hold the threads of the spark plug to the cylinder head bolt.
- Lift the rear wheel, and give it one good hard pedal down as if you are kick-starting the bike.

IF the plug sparks at the tip, re-install the spark plug.
NO SPARK:
- Check the plug cap. I've replaced mine with a NGK Right Angle spark plug cap.
- Replace lead with Copper wire lead. (despite not noticing evident issues with the wiring)
- Check for spark again with the new lead and plug cap. That's all the electrical done from start of lead to the end of the plug tip.
- Still NO SPARK? Skip to [Magneto and CDI] DO NOT replace Magneto and CDI unless you do all the above. That way you have a clean sweep of any electrical related issues.

After starting and operating the chainsaw for a short time, it dies and I can't get it started again. Suggestions?

Engines require 3 things. Spark, compression and fuel. And chainsaw need 2-cycle oil mixed with the gas.

Assuming you have the right oil-gas mixture and a fresh batch of gas, and you didn't leave old gas in the saw all summer long since last November.

-Take off the dirty air filter and see if saw starts without filter. Do not run without putting in new filter.
-Check exhaust port for mud dobber home or screen clogged with carbon and dirt
-See if saw fires up after squirting WD-40 directly into carburetor
-Check gas line >>> pull gas line loose and see if gas flows out of tank to carburetor
-Take out spark plug > put finger over spark hole and pull cord >> do you feel suction that says you got compression?
-Put spark wire back on spark plug >>> hold spark plug so threads touch bare metal part of spark plug hole >>> pull starter cord and see if spark shows between plug and saw >>> suggest you not hold metal part of spark plug while pulling cord [you'll understand why]
-If spark plug shows spark, then your saw has spark ... so put in new plug and start fresh.

If your saw has compression, spark, and fuel it should start unless carburetor is gummed up because gas was left in tank.
Here is the final trick. Start the saw while spraying WD-40 directly into carburetor and see if you can keep it going with the WD-40. This might take a helper. If this does not work, then carburetor is bad or gas line is clogged at carburetor. Time to take it to the shop.

Spark plug wires firing order

Hi: Your Firing order for a V-8 GM Engine is 1--8--4--3--6--5--7--2--
Clockwise rotation.

< Back of Engine >

8 7

6 5

4 3

2 1

Front of Engine Cylindr Locations

This should get you Fixed-Up. To make sure your are starting your #1 Plug in right place on rotor = Pull Coil wire 1st so it won't start== then pull #1 Spark Plug,Then Put your index finger in the #1 Plug hole,Have Someone bump the engine around until Air is pushing your finger out==(STOP) now you are at TDC Top Dead Center ,Pull Distributor Cap off and What ever the Distributors Rotor is Pointing to Should be #1-Start #1 Wire There And Go Clockwise as I gave the Order Its Again 1--8--4--3--6--5--7--2

Hope this gets you started and set your timing and your onthe Way,PLEASE let me Know by Voting for the Quality of my Answer.

Thank You From: D_HUBBS

Unable to adjust choke on my hammerhead go kart

Fist off, it a 'choke; not a 'chock' which his a gadget for putting under wheels so they don't roll. As a Moderator I have altered your spelling to help others searching with a similar problem in the future.

Other people have had the same problems with the electric choke and there is a conversion to a manual choke.

Fr2.0 14'' McCulloch chainsaw has no spark when holding spark plug wire while pulling the cord.

Ignition Coil Test
SmallEng.com
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L7WNBDRG4C4
You may need to use a jumper wire between the threaded part of the plug and the cooling fins. You don’t have to bend up the electrode.

If you really sure there is no spark turn on the ignition, put your pinky finger in place of the plug, and give a short pull. If you didn't get shocked the coil, switch, or wiring is bad.

You can find an IPL for your saw here:
McCulloch International
http://www.mcculloch.biz/
The model you provided does not cross. A number on your saw will match something. Your coil part number can be found there. HTH

WONT START

Not so many reasons she won't start. 4-Strokes are Simple!

Here they are:

Motor:
Fuel Tank-> Fuel Line-> Fuel Filter-> Carb-> Intake (Valve)-> Piston-> Exhaust (Valve)-> Muffler

Carb (Old Style):
Fuel Side:
Fuel Bowl-> Float-> Needle Seat-> Fuel Ports (Venturi)
Air Side:
Air Filter-> Carb Air Intake-> Butterflies (2)
(Clean 'em ALL!)

Hardware (Motor):
Rotor (Magnets)-> Magneto (Ignition Coil)-> Spark Plug Wire-> Spark Plug-> Cylinder Head (Spark Plug Ground)

Ignition:
Kill Switches (Seat, Clutch, etc.)-> Spark Plug/Ignition Coil-> Ground
Key Ignition-> Battery->Starter/Generator

If one of those fail.......= Non-Starting 4-Stroke!

Fixes-
Fuel:
You are either getting too much, or too little. Too much = Carb.
Too little = Carb. Therefore, tear down the Carb (COMPLETELY-Careful!) and clean it up.

Electrical:
Grounding out the System (Kill Switches)
Battery-> Ignition-> Starter.
Magneto->Plug Wire->Plug (Check 'em all!)

Wont start is there any way of resting the coil.

Hello

>>The Following is a Basic Instruction File I Made for Checking the Coil/Ign Coil/Magnetron/Armature on Small Engines. Any Input is Appreciated.
>>**To Check the Ign Coil; Remove the Spark Plug/s.
>>With a Good Plug, Wrap a Wire Around the Threads of the Plug and Attach the Other End of the Wire to the Engine Block. >>Remove the Blower Housing (metal engine cover). The Wire that is Connected to the Coil/Ign Module from the Shut Off Switch needs to be Removed (unplugged) from the Coil/Ign Module.
>>Now Check for Spark at the Plug.
>>If Spark, then the Shut Off Switch or the Wire is Bad.
>>If Still No Spark, then the Coil/Ign Module is Bad. If there are Safety Switches on this Unit and the Coil is Good; you Need to Check the Safety Switches for Being Bad and Check the Oil Guard Switch also.**
Please, Do Not Hesitate, If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem, I am Here if You Require More Assistance.
Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Be Safe and Be Happy. Thanks.

Good Luck

Respectfully
